Update on Blog De Manila and Benefit of Waiting

Once again, I apologize for not being able to update this blog. I’m a bit busy with my other work, that is software development. I think most of BlogDeManila readers already know that my true profession is into developing software. Our company is developing a software for the past 7 years already and I’m proud to say that I’m one of the two original developers.

The software that we developed is being used by hundred of thousands users already. I’m sorry I cannot divulge the name of the program because it’s licensed to some other companies. They are using our software but they labeled it as their own.

The main feature of our program, which is the easiest to develop actually, is for the user to be able to send email. Think of it as your favorite mail client like Gmail, Outlook or Thunderbird. The second, which I think is one one of the most important feature, is being able to send Short Messaging System (SMS) around the world. The hardest part in developing this part is being able to send SMS in different language. What makes it harder fo us is the testing. Every one in our company doesn’t know how to read other Asian Languages like Thai, Japanese and Chinese, which makes the bulk of our customer’s requirements.

Our solution? We asked help from our customers that they will lend some of their support staff so we can test the program. We set a date wherein we can have a live chat with them. During our testing, they will write the text in the chat program and then we will send the SMS in our own developed software until we perfected the system.

Since the program we developed was successful for most of Asian languages, our customers in Europe also wants to have the same feature plus they want us to include the live support system they are using in program too. Our development team had a meeting regarding the request feature that our customers wants. We reported that we need more time to study on how we can implement a live chat software just like the features of LiveMoz in our current system.

Right now, we are just waiting for the decision of the management if we will push through on this or not. This is the benefit of waiting…at least for me. It gives me more time on my blog life.
