Twitter Suspended My Account

Poor me, I was showing TweetDeck – a twitter client- to my colleagues telling them how good it is but we were surprised because it’s showing nothing on the interface. We doubled checked to make sure that we are connected online but still it’s not showing anything.
I logged in on my Twitter account, and that’s where I saw what hit me “You’re account is suspended”.
What happened? Have I done something wrong? Did I violate Twitter’s Terms and Conditions?
I quickly checked Twitter’s Terms of Service and Rules and Policies. Unfortunately, I could not find anything there that I may have violated, except (maybe) for these two:
- If you have followed a large amount of users in a short amount of time;
- If you have followed and unfollowed people in a short time period, particularly by automated means (aggressive follower churn);
I admit that I follow and unfollowed people automatically. I’m using a third party Twitter application to do this for me.
Anyway, after I thoroughly checked that I’m not violating any of Twitter’s TOS, I submitted a ticket to their helpdesk requesting my account to be reinstated because I feel it has been wrongly suspended.
True enough, after just few hours, my Twitter account was reinstated. Thanks to Debius of Twitter.
The only thing that I don’t like with their support is that they did not tell me what violation I’ve committed. I’d really like to know so I can avoid doing it again in the future. I don’t know, but for me, suspending an account without warning is totally rude. Also, they did not email me that my account has been reinstated already. I only learned about it when I checked on the request ticket on their help page.
Anyway, my only consolation is that they reinstated my account. Now I can tweet again!

Yesterday I just read a post in another blog (I forgot the blog URL or title) , writing about how his account was suspended too. He assumed it was the reason that most of his updates are links.
I wonder what’s Twitter for anyway if they prohibit following/unfollowing people in a short period of time? And what is it for if they are prohibiting too many links updates? I thought Twitter is , by nature, a service where you update through links.
I think, honestly, Twitter is overrated. Unless you have 10,000 followers, it might make a difference on your blog. But how would it make a difference if it bans updates through links? What is Twitter for?
If it’s only updating …then I’d rather go to Facebook. FB is more enjoyable and more allows every marketing device one could ever imagine.
I’ve been in twitter since on it’s beta stage…and I have love/hate relationship with it. I can’t cope up following hundreds accounts and this is the reason I’m using a third party to do it for me.
what is twitter for? for me…it’s a tool to announce to the world what I want them to know.
FB is more enjoyable because I can play games with my kids…hahaha!
That’s quite annoying if we found out that our accounts
are being suspended with no further reasons and information.
If you think you had violated the rules like what you’ve stated in the piece then be careful the next time around.
I just hope that Admins from different sites, like social sites would send us an email on why our account has been suspended. They should give us the exact reasons so that we would be aware.
thanks for visiting my site and approving my ad!
I’m actually learning a lot from your views.
Hi,Eric!Good thing your account has been reinstated.I didn’t know they have poor customer support.i have a twitter account but i don’t log in to it anymore coz i don’t know what to do with it, lol.i just don’t know how to enjoy it as much as Facebook.Hope u have an FB acct so i could add you up to my friends list.BTW,i really admire your knowledge on the techie world. =)
Did you receive my email a week ago regarding your request?
Yes, there are sites that will just suspend your account without any warning at all. Worst their customer account will just point out that you have violated their TOS and will left you wondering which one you have violated. Good for you, your account in twitter was reinstated. My account on blog catalog was never reinstated.
More power!

I also experienced the same, I didn’t know the reason why twitter suspended my account, I didn’t put many links, only two or three links a day. it has happened to me for twice, it makes me upset, now I just make a new account again lol.
