Tips for Creating Dynamic Websites
I have helped businesses of all sizes with website set-ups and sometimes marketing issues as well – most dont’ have any idea the ins and outs of being “IN” the internet. Whenever I encounter small business owners, I always advise them to apply the basics of marketing to make their websites interesteing and effective. I recommend the following guidelines for building dynamic websites:
- Ensure that the content of your website is controlled. The website should have solid copywriting. Boil things down and remember less is more. Short bulleted lists and punchy copy should rule the text.
- Because the web is primary a visual medium, the use of graphics and images is paramount. The graphics need to be interesting enough to keep readers/browsers in your site. While you should balance graphics and text, you should “lean a little more toward visuals”.
- Maximize the interactivity of your site. After all, that’s the power if the web. I recommend easy feedback forms accompanied, if possible, with some kind of incentive such as a “give away”. If your feedback form includes questions, make sure it meets the “five minute response time test” by using simple, quick queries with yes or no answers or multiple choices.
- Finally, make sure that your website is easy to navigate. It’s possible to offer so many venues on a web page that visitors get lost. Avoid convoluted sites and work to ensure that options have a logical flow.
