July 2010 payment from Adgitize is my 20th already.

I was planning to  rephrase the title of this post to – “Received a Gross Profit of $403.87 from Adgitize“.

I’ll tell you why.

I just came back from Bohol and upon browsing my emails I saw the payment notification from PayPal . It’s not really big in comparison to other members. I’m just so happy to know from Adgitize founder, Ken Brown, when he pointed out on his blog that it’s my 20th payment  already. I was not even aware of it until Ken mentioned it.

So I’d checked my earnings on Adgitize dashboard and here’s what I saw on the Payment Page (I deleted the date and payment method to shorten the post):

Payment Amount: 13.55

The biggest payment I received for a single month was $35.81  on January of this year. Let’s do a quick calculation here:

+Gross Payment = $403.87
* Investment=$14 x 20= $280

where:

+ what I received from Adgitize
* $14 is what I invested to Adgitize as an Adverstiser and 20 is the total number of months

But wait…I’d signed up as an advertiser two months after I received my first 2 payments, so we should deduct 2 months from my total investment.

Investment=$14 x 18= $252

But wait..there’s more. I also joined a contest wherein I won a 1 month free from Adgitize. Oooppsss, one thing more, in November of 2009 Adgitize increased their advertisement fee to $24 but they rolled it back the following month.

To make it easy for us (or me) to calculate, here’s the final breakdown:

My total investment is = 16 months x $14+$24( Nov. 2009)= $248
And the total payment I received from Adgitize= $403.87

So I still earned a decent amount of $155.87.

Not bad isn’t?

Entrecard recently opened it’s network to virtually everyone. I’m sure most of the Entrecard members are already aware of this changes. According to Entrecard’s announcement, they are opening the system so bloggers can also network with regular website owners too.

I think one of the reason for this is that, by opening the network to regular website, they might also be looking for “other opportunities” to make the site profitable. I can’t see nothing wrong on this. It may even bring positive outcome later on, not only to Entrecard owners but to the whole community as well. This is what Adgitize is doing and I’m not against it. Let’s face the fact, business needs to profit too! Without a profit then there’s no business at all.

One of the  advantages of Adgitize over EC is your points (credits) are automatically converted to cash.

Entrecard is an advertising exchange network for bloggers (and non-blog too, now)  which holds the promise of boosting traffic by visiting other sites. Blogs or normal sites doesn’t matter because when you really want to gain more traffic in Entrecard network, you are suppose to reciprocate a visit.

As you may have noticed, I removed the contextual advertising on my post already (Adsense, Bidvertiser, etc).  For the past 5 months or so, this blog earned a less than 10 US dollars! What a pathetic earnings, isn’t?

Contextual advertising doesn’t wok at all (pay-per-click model), at least for this blog.

What went wrong? Are the ads not beautiful enough to attract the readers? Am I not getting enough traffic?

Here are some hard facts about BlogDeManila:

• BlogDeManila’s first time visitors (unique) has an average of  1,929 per month only!
• Yahoo search engine brings more than 50% of my organic visitors.  Organic visitors are what you call natural or traditional visitors who stumbled upon your blog because of the keyword or set of keyword they entered into a search engine.
• MONEY is my topmost keyword! This is the word that people led to my blog when they search the web. Bing.com actually is bringing more visitors due to this keyword. I thought  BlogDeManila is a blogging resources for bloggers? How come “money” is the keyword that search engine are showing? I guess I need to utilize this word on this site …ahem

From these 3 hard facts alone, probloggers like ShoeMoney, Problogger, Jensense – who are earnings thousands if not hundred thousands a month in Google Adsense (in U$ dollars),  are absolutely correct that a blog for blogger should not have a contextual advertising specially Google Adsense!

The Reason?

Bloggers are blind! They don’t see a thing in your blog. Bloggers are reading your content and they can’t see the ads in your site. Their eyes can scan your entire blogs without seeing a single ad. Why?  They have perfectly trained their eyes, subconsciously, to ignore anything beyond your content. Unless you put some pretty and sexy images near your ads

They have this what I call “selective blindness”.

Am I discouraging you to avoid contextual advertising? Not at all. If you’re site is about food, travel, family, gadgets, personal diary and others, except blog for bloggers, then by all means monetize your blog using all the available contextual advertising out there.

Am I not going to use contextual advertising on BDM’s post anymore? I’m currently looking for a good network advertising company that will provide the best CPM (cost per thousand of impressions) instead of PPC (pay per click) model.

I stumbled upon Smowtion which focuses on display ads and banners. They will pay you based on the number of times the ad has been shown on your site. They are still in beta  but I guess it’s worth trying.

Until I can find the best alternative advertising company for this blog’s posts, you won’t see a single PPC ad If you see an advertising link within the post, I assure that it’s either a direct ads that I’m adding or a CPM ad.

I was not able to post my Adgitize earnings last month so here I am reporting  the total amount for June and July. A total of $57.17.  Well, aside from the cash earnings, one blog I advertised on Adgitize (my wife’s blog) have been viewed 361,063 times and a sum of 4,184 ad clicks  which represents the number of times someone has clicked on the ad for the past two months.

I only started to advertise my wife’s blog in the middle of June. The exact date of the ad approval was June 17, 2009. If we divide the investment of $28 which we paid Adgitize for the 2 months ads, we can clearly summarize the results like this:

$28/361,063 ad views= 7.75e-5 or an approximate of $.00007 per Ad views

$28/4,184 ad clicks = 0.0067 per click!

Correct me if I’m wrong. I’m not so good in math.

Isn’t it great? From the marketing perspective, my wife’s blog is getting a traffic for $.00067 per click for the past two months or less since we still have 10 days before the the ads will expire.

A lot of BlogDeManila’s loyal readers are asking me how to earn in Adgitize. I actually received a lot of emails this past two weeks. Some were complaining that they’re not earning while some simply doesn’t know how.

Again, here are the tips on how to earn in Adgitize and don’t forget the last tip I’ll mention below:

It is actually very easy and there are multiple ways to maximize your earning of points.

• Click on ads within the Adgitize ad network until you see the blue banner at the bottom with the words “Adgitize 100″. For advertiser’s you need to click  51 ads only.

• Write an article on your blog about anything you want (as long as it is safe for work). Make sure you have added your rssfeed to each of your blogs in our system.

• Become an Advertiser ( This actually costs some money. )

• Build up traffic to your blog to score page view points

• Build up traffic to your blog to score Ad View points.

And here’s one more tip that I haven’t shared before: Make your AD pretty! Yes, make it sexy to the eyes of the beholder. You know what I mean, make it attractive! Make sure it will stand out among the 130+ advertiser’s ad! This last tip alone created a big impact on my Adgitize earnings.

Once again, Adgitize fulfilled it’s promise that top active publishers can earn  in the range of $25 to $100 a month.

I may not be one of the top active publishers last month, because I went on a paradise vacation, still I received my fifth payment ( or should I write “Earnings”) since I joined Adgitize way back in November of last year.

According to Adgitize’s blog, one active publisher received $42.61!

For the April 2009 publisher payouts the top amount we paid to a single publisher was $42.61. We sent out PayPal checks to 5 people with amounts over $30. Twelve publishers received PayPal amounts over $20. And a large number of other publishers received amounts greater than $10. – as reported by Ken Brown.

So how can you as a blogger earn from using Adgitize?

Let’s learn the ways on how to earn MORE from Adgitize as stated by Ken Brown – the founder of Adgitize:
