How’s Your Internet Connection?
Internet connection is very slow since yesterday morning. Our company is connected to two major broadband facilities, Globe and Eastern Telecoms which apparently have been affected by the recent double breaks in the international fiber-optics cables.
Back home, I’m also connected to two DSL providers, PLDT and Globe. Both are affected too by this major network outage. The term they are using is “international cable break between China and Taiwan.
According to some news sources, these cable breaks have been caused by the recent tropical storm Morakot in Asia. This is the same typhoon that devastated some provinces in the Philippines and left about 25 people dead and cause a lot of land slides in Baguio also.
What makes me furious about this incident is that, all of the internet providers could not provide a definite date or time on when they can fully restore the normal operations of their services. So much for their ” bleeding edge technology”!
My internet connection at home and in my law office take forever to load. Both are PLDT DSL. I used to drop 200 Entrecards daily in my spare time after lunch. But now I can only drop 30 cards. Even then, it takes 5 clicks for the Entrecard button to connect and says “Thanks”. “Thanks” because I could not reach even 50 cards. Very slow internet connection indeed. It seems I’m back to the days of dial up.

Oh,so that explains it.I’m using Smartbro here at home but I’m having trouble too.Is Smartbro also affected? We’ve noticed the drag in the office too but we’re using Destiny and Smartbro there. Same problem. Sigh.
Yes, SmartBro and Smart (SMS/Text messages included) are affected too.
Oo nga pala,I still haven’t gone to Go Daddy to buy a domain.Grrr! Gusto ko na talaga huhuhu. You think the codes are still valid? =(
Most of the codes are valid. Let me know 2 days in advance before you buy your domain so I can ask around for working codes.
Wow! That’ll be great! Hmmm, I’m ready na man actually because I think I have enough funds in my paypal.Errr, kelangan kayang bayaran in advance ang 1 yr rate or would it be monthly?haay,I don’t even remember the terms.Grrr! Ulyanin na talaga. Ok,I’ll check on Go Daddy muna to see the rates and I’ll update you so I can avail of the promo codes. Thanks for helping,Eric!
o ow.. im currently using smart bro and later today, im gonna have globe and their phone:( gosh, i hope itll be fixed asap:)
I think you have to understand the internet providers’ position. They are not responsible for the maintenance and repair of said cables and they only subscribe to the service. As such, they cannot determine the definite time and date when services will normalize.
Patience is a virtue.
I fully understand them because I’m also working on a “telco/isp” like environment. What I don’t understand is their promised “multiple/redundant connections” – meaning if one point is broken they can still direct the traffic to another highway. I guess that highway is either congested or still under construction…sigh.
im glad everythings workin well with my newly installed globe. but my destiny cable is still not workin since yesterday. .. said itll be fixed today, today, today. duh.
..used to work with cust service of us’s largest telco company. rule is always give an assurance statement or promises even if it would mean lying
i guess thats how it works lol
Our internet connection in our office already back to normal two days ago.
I’m glad its now ok and can now do bloghopping
in my case, it’s way better than before.. globelines din ako pero mas ayos ngayon.. unlike dati every five minutes walang connection.. naku I even made a new blog for my rants wahaha
o hala dali ilabas na ang mga inaagiw na jumpshot..
