Best Father’s Day Ever

Let me write an out of topic post this time. Don’t worry, this is just short and sweet. I just want to express the feelings that I’ve experienced yesterday being the a special day for all fathers – the Father’s Day.

I woke up at 8AM, which is my usual wake-up time every Sunday. I’ve found my 2 kids playing an online games and soon found out also that my wife was already playing badminton in a nearby court. Prior to that day, my wife and I agreed that we will play badminton on Sunday.

After the usual greetings of “good morning” of my kids, I went back to bed to get a few more minutes of sleep before heading to the badminton court. As I was about to get on my sleepy state, I heard footsteps followed by some bumping on the door.

I stoop up and opened the door. That’s where I saw my 2 kids struggling to bring in the 3 trays of food inside the room. They brought rolls, rice, sunny side up eggs, scrambled eggs with tomato, a cup of coffee, a glass of water and maybe a dozen more breads with cheese. We all shared eating the bread.  We exchanged stories about the games they were playing and more. They did not leave me until I’m done with my breakfast.

I can’t help myself not to have a teary eyes on a situation like these – very simple and yet sweet bonding time with your kids. And it doesn’t need to be expensive! These are the moments that money can’t buy.

I’ve found out later that it was their mom who planned for this.

Later in the afternoon, after we all played badminton in the morning, we went to a farm to celebrate my youngest son’s birthday. Before I forget, my kids are both boys ages 7 and 4.

    Hi Eric,

    What a heart-warming story!

My girls surprised me with hand-made Father’s Day cards, and several articles of stylish summer clothing.

Then we drove one daughter to church camp. On the way home we stopped at our favorite restaurant for a sampler tray of Jumbo Prawns over rice, beef brochette and artichokes in cheese with king crab, and some cold beverages. The french bread with garlic butter was over the top! The sunset was glorious over San Francisco Bay in California.

The other daughter shared our very first Grandchild with us which was a wonderful way to end the day. Our grand-daughter is only 13 weeks old and very busy!

    Respectfully,

You must be the luckiest man alive :) This Father’s day I didn’t get my father anything, we live too far away. I called him though, that’s better than nothing ..

Belated happy Father’s day to all.
Good if we celebrate father’s day together with our family.
That’s a good way to bring back the family together.
