Baker Is Now Ready For Download
“Baker” is the codename for WordPress 2.8. It’s named after the great jazz trumpeter Chet Baker. As stated on the previous post “WordPress 2.8 Features“, if there’s one factor that you want to update to the latest WordPress is because of the SPEED – it’s way faster to use.
Galwin of OrginalBlogger, upgraded his blog to WordPress 2.8 this morning and he find it “BETTER” than the previous version.
You can find the download page for WordPress 2.8 here.
If you don’t have time to read my previous post, you can just watch the quick video here that walks you through the latest additions.
If you need the step-by-step on how to upgrade your current WordPress, check the 3 Step Upgrade Guide directly from WordPress.org. Make sure that your themes and plugins are WordPress 2.8 compatible already. I suggest that you take a visit on where you downloaded your themes and plugins.

I’m holding off on downloading, just to see if there’s any bugs or anything like that. However, some of the updates and new features look really good.
the only ‘bug’ so far that other bloggers is complaining is the “Fatal error: Call to undefined method WordPress_Module::_weak_escape()”.
it’s actually not a WP2.8 error but the Redirection plugin that these bloggers are using.
Fortunately, this is not a problem anymore because Redirection plugin has been updated already and is now WP 2.8 compatible.
I might have to give it a shot a little bit later today then. Thanks!
I’ve upgraded last night but don’t see the difference just yet.
I used to have the same error like eric mentioned but since eric mentioned that it’s not a problem anymore maybe I should try it again. thanks for the info.
This problem has actually resolved. I already using Baker for wordpress 2.8.
